BANANA is a lecture. BANANA has a projector. BANANA has a presenter. BANANA has several slides. BANANA also has a laser pointer. BANANA has a one-hour duration.BANANA has all the things that a lecture usually has.
BANANA has everything except an original idea.

An awkward presenter stands before the audience with no topic and several pictures of monkeys. To remedy the problem, he decides to copy the idea from another lecture on the Internet: trudging through excuses and anecdotes, he carries on an apologia in favor of copying.
Making use of a projector, a table, and a banana helmet, the presenter analyzes such long-standing issues as copyright, plagiarism, and open-source culture, recounting anecdotes about famous monkeys, such as King Kong, the macaque's self-timer, or Harambe, in a jungle of references to pop culture, medieval copyists, and Wikipedia, a scramble between the fronds of creative-commons and the theory of evolution.

How does an idea come about? Can one still be original? Is copying a negative process? Or can plagiarism bring an old idea to life? Most importantly: which way do you open a banana?

In a society populated by memes, gifs, copy-paste, forward and share, BANANA is a reflection on the possibilities of free culture, sharing and reworking.
A banana conference where the yellow fruit from nothing is transformed into a symbol, a demonstration of the magnificent and potential process that is the evolution of an idea.
